"Strandfigur means "beach body" in German. It corresponds to a diktat of Western society, an ideal body type that is supposed to be achieved before being seen at the beach in summer.
Here, it is not a body that has been sculpted and slimmed down for months, which goes to the sea to be seen by demanding people in a touristic context. There are rather ordinary people going to a cultural space to discover an imperfect body on a work of art and in an open air context."
